Zendaya’s Stunning Met Gala Journey Through the Years

Zendaya has dazzled our socks off with her jaw-dropping looks at the Met Gala every year since she first stole the show in 2015. Each year, she has embraced the event’s unique themes, showcasing her evolving style and creativity. From a whimsical Cinderella-inspired gown to futuristic designs, Zendaya’s appearances reflect both her personality and the artistry of her stylists.

Zendaya’s first Met Gala in 2015 featured a flawless look, including a custom Fausto Puglisi dress and full-on hairstyle with arrived at the event. The theme for that year, “China: Through The Looking Glass,” inspired the actress’s enchanting look. She wore a powder blue gown reminiscent of Cinderella, featuring a corseted bodice, a billowing tulle overlay, and puffy sleeves. Though she fell short of the judges’ prize, her debut was just the start of her Met Gala adventure. The campaign further cemented her status as a fashion icon.

Defining Moments in Fashion

The next time Zendaya went to the Met Gala, she showed up at the 2019 ball decked out in a sparkling golden gown from Michael Kors. Her modern blunt bowl cut haircut paired with an edgy smokey eye makeup look was the ideal combination with this outfit. The 2016 theme, “Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology,” inspired her to embrace a modern aesthetic. Kors said, “We wanted her to be Android… robot realness,” suggesting the experimental creativity atmosphere of the show.

In 2017, she graced the red carpet in a vibrant Dolce & Gabbana dress adorned with tropical parrots and florals. The theme of “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garcons: Art of the In-Between” allowed Zendaya to showcase her playful side while embracing high fashion. This aesthetic proved again that she somehow mixed smart with whimsy with class.

A Fashion Powerhouse

Zendaya wowed the audience with her ethereal beauty. In 2018, she shocked the Met in a regal pink Givenchy gown by John Galliano, finished with an extravagant floral headdress that turned heads. Sure enough, the next year, she stole the show at the prom. Her fierce red carpet dress turned out to be her most memorable (and powerful) look yet, completely hypnotizing all of fashion week.

Fast forward to 2024, where Zendaya attended The Met Gala Celebrating “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Per usual, she wowed the crowd with not one but two breathtaking looks befitting the night’s theme. Maison Margiela produced one gown from that same unbelievable mash-up of blue, black, and forest green material. The other design truly sparkled with light-up elements, showcasing her penchant for the eclectic runway showstopper.

“I dreamt of Joan of Arc one night and called Versace and was like, ‘What if we did something to reference Joan of Arc?’” – Law Roach

On her future, Zendaya’s stylist, Law Roach, recently teased their visions for the future 2025 Met Gala. He explained that though both will be going, they’ll be going separately. This ruling throws an interesting monkey wrench into their longstanding dance.
