Witty Banter and Dark Comedy Unite in Honey Don’t!

Margaret Qualley and Chris Evans star in the upcoming Coen Brothers-produced, modern classic-in-the-making dark comedy film Honey Don’t! Directed, co-written and co-produced by Ethan Coen, this film is definitely just what the doctor ordered. We’re immensely proud and excited that the film will be premiering internationally at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. After that, it will open in cinemas on August 22.

In “Honey Don’t!,” Qualley stars as a no-nonsense private eye hired to strip away a layer of deception. She can’t escape her fate, and it all collides when she meets Evans, who stars as a preacher with bad vibes. Their electric dialogue crackles with lively barbs and repartee that provide comic relief and foreshadow an unpredictable, funny, and exciting ride. Along with their hilarious back-and-forth trailer teases, this brand-new action-packed trailer gives a deeper look at the film’s wildly entertaining plot.

Aubrey Plaza joins the cast, portraying one of the officers. Her alliance with Qualley’s character deepens the emotional and moral churn of the narrative. The two must collaborate and exchange ideas to learn more clues that ultimately take them further into the preacher’s psyche. America Ferrera, Charlie Day and Billy Eichner round out the ensemble cast. It’s those unique characters that guarantee to take the film’s eccentric, whimsical tone to the next level.

The trailer reveals a pivotal moment where Qualley’s character discovers a clue: a ring adorned with a logo that matches Evans’ church. While this finding drives much of the story’s action forward, it foreshadows the film’s more somber undertones that echo beneath its lighthearted exterior.

In the hands of Ethan Coen, unconventional storytelling comes to life — just ask the dramatic/comedian’s “Honey Don’t!” As the producer of the film, he infuses a fun, throwback aesthetic into the entire film, contrasted with his character’s deadpan desert landscape.

“I see a need, and I fulfill it.” – Ethan Coen’s character (preacher)

Qualley’s character delivers a sharp retort:

“You see a need, and you exploit it.” – Margaret Qualley’s character (Honey)

The film’s humor is further exemplified in a playful moment where Qualley quips:

“And you haven’t even see the riddle tattoo on my ass.” – Margaret Qualley’s character (Honey)

Excitement for the upcoming release of “Honey Don’t!” is reaching a fever-pitch. Audiences are in for a fantastic ride of comedy and nail-biting tension when it opens across the country later this summer!
