To promote this year’s single, Wendy’s introduced a “Meal of Misfortune,” available for a limited time starting on August 4. This exclusive meal is inspired by the famous Netflix series “Wednesday.” It’s home to one of the most recognizable creations in American pop culture, Wednesday Addams, who created it herself, as “the other pig-tailed outcast.” The fast-food chain describes the meal as “pure punishment in a bag,” appealing to fans of the quirky series.
The Meal of Misfortune Includes “Rest in 10-Piece” Nuggets—paired with petite “Cursed & Crispy” Fries. To wash all that down, indulge in a mini “Raven’s Blood” Frosty. Each meal is individually packaged with unique designs that capture Wednesday Addams’ darkly whimsical aesthetic. Guests get a death-defying treat with two surprise “Dips of Dread.” Each dip features four spicy mystery sauces with names so badass that they go like this—“You Can’t Hyde,” “This Will Sting,” “Grave Mistake,” and “Nowhere to Woe.”
Wendy’s Chief Marketing Officer, Lindsay Radkoski, underscored the importance of this collaboration. She made sure to mention that Wendy’s is a cultural touchstone. She further remarked that Wednesday is known for breaking the mold with humor and a touch of irreverence. Radkoski stressed that this partnership is anything but typical. Wednesday Addams Meal of Misfortune isn’t the kind of thing that any random brand could cook up. For a brand that is, by definition, intensely customer-obsessed and unapologetically dark and dry-witted, it was truly a match made in dark, dry-witted heaven.
In addition to the meal, Wendy’s is encouraging fans to engage with the brand through an interactive game titled “Escape from Wednesday’s Woe,” available exclusively in the Wendy’s app. This game provides U.S. fans an exciting chance to win $10,000!
Objectives
Players will traverse iconic game barriers, chow down on Wendy’s x Wednesday goodies and score exclusive rewards together.
Even Wednesday Addams herself has expressed her discomfort about the partnership. She said, “Typically, I am opposed to this sort of capitalistic corporate synergy at all costs. But when the McDonald’s-chucking, pigtail-twirling, Inquisitor-in-chief said I could do anything I wanted to her patrons, I just had to say yes.”
That means Wendy’s locations nationwide will be dishing out The Meal of Misfortune! Fans of the fast-food chain and the Netflix series can sink their teeth into this creatively themed meal and appreciate its hilariously morbid sense of humor.
