The Wales family—Prince William, Princess Kate, and their three young kids—will be relocating to their permanent home later this year. Great things in store for them, too! They will be leaving their current home, Adelaide Cottage. Their new permanent home will be Forest Lodge, an eight-bedroom home on the Windsor Castle estate in Windsor, England. At the same time, there are major personal tragedies surrounding this transformational step — for Kate Middleton, who disclosed her pancreatic cancer diagnosis earlier this year.
As of 2022, Kate Middleton’s little ones—Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7—have all started going to Lambrook School in Berkshire. The family are big advocates of accessible living spaces too. Their current home, Adelaide Cottage, is prized for its ease. They originally relocated here from Kensington Palace. Yet the decision to relocate to Forest Lodge seems entirely consistent with their motives to find a larger family home.
Kate Middleton’s health has been a hot topic in recent months. In January, she announced that her cancer was in remission following a course of chemotherapy treatment. In March 2024, she revealed her cancer diagnosis to the public, though she did not share the type or stage. Buckingham Palace announced King Charles III’s cancer diagnosis in February 2024. The palace acknowledged at the time that he had undergone treatment for benign prostate enlargement. Yet, they did not provide any further information on the cause of his ill health.
The upcoming move to Forest Lodge is not just about the size of the residence. It also brings the Wales family closer to Kate Middleton’s parents, Michael and Carole Middleton, who live in nearby Bucklebury. This closeness has become increasingly important to Kate. She is vocal about how much she enjoys her childhood in rural Berkshire and how it has influenced her new family life.
“This move puts them much closer to the Middletons, and Kate is very close to her family,” – Victoria Murphy
