Longtime host Pat Sajak offered an emotional goodbye in June 2024. He retired after more than four decades as a member, making way for this historic shift. White and Sajak worked together on the classic gameshow for more than 8,000 episodes. Their partnership produced a legacy that has entertained the world since Sajak first stepped on stage in 1981.
White became a permanent fixture on the program a year later, in 1982, and has since become equally as beloved, alongside Sajak. Seacrest comes to this important role with deep credentials. White attributes the transition’s success so far to his preparation and forward-thinking approach that has delivered a seamless feel. She stated, “It’s like slipping into something very comfortable,” highlighting how natural and familiar it feels to work with him.
With Seacrest now officially at the wheel, he stressed that going forward, he has no intention of trying to replace Sajak. No one can,” he continued, paying tribute to the singular legacy bequeathed by his predecessor. White reinforced this sentiment by maintaining her friendship with Sajak, stating, “I still see him! We’re friends. We have dinner!”
