Trace Cyrus Expresses Concern for Father After Inaugural Performance

Billy Ray Cyrus
, the acclaimed singer and songwriter, recently took center stage at President Donald Trump’s inaugural celebrations on January 20th. Performing at the Liberty Ball in Washington, D.C., Cyrus faced unexpected technical difficulties, including his guitar cutting out. Despite these issues, the artist attempted to continue serenading the audience with an a cappella rendition of “Achy Breaky Heart” and later tried to carry on with “Old Town Road.”

Following the performance, Trace Cyrus, Billy Ray's adopted son, took to Instagram to share an emotional open letter to his father. Trace expressed deep concern for Billy Ray's health, a worry he stated the family has held for years.

"We are all hanging on to memories of the man we once knew & hoping for the day he returns. You're not healthy Dad & everyone is noticing it," Trace wrote in his heartfelt message.

Billy Ray Cyrus's participation in the event came at the invitation of President Trump. Reflecting on the experience, he shared on Instagram that despite the technical mishaps, he thoroughly enjoyed the performance.

"I wouldn’t have missed the honor of playing this event whether my microphone, guitar and monitors worked or not," Billy Ray stated.

"I was there because President Donald J. Trump invited me," he added, emphasizing his commitment to the occasion.

"I was there for the people and we had a blast. That’s called rock n roll!!!"

Trace Cyrus' post came two days after his father's performance. It conveyed a poignant mixture of love and concern, as he recalled the day Billy Ray adopted him as one of the happiest moments of his life. Trace expressed his desire to assist his father through his struggles and emphasized his ongoing prayers for Billy Ray's well-being.

"As I write this with tears in my eyes I hope you realize this message only comes from a place of love and also fear that the world may lose you far too soon," Trace implored.

"You know how to reach me. Till that day comes I will continue to pray for you."

ABC News reached out to Billy Ray Cyrus for comments regarding Trace’s post, but a representative did not respond.
