Tom Brady, the new EV pitchman and former NFL quarterback, is at it again! You all missed his introduction of his new dog, Junie, which happens to be a clone of his late dog, Lua. This announcement, unfortunately, comes on the heels of Lua’s passing in December 2023, a tragic outcome for this sweet pit bull mix. Brady expressed that the cloning process provided his family with “a second chance with a clone of our beloved dog.”
Lua was a deeply cherished member of Brady’s family. Upon her passing, the news would be posted to Brady’s personal Instagram profile by his former wife, Gisele Bundchen. In a deeply moving post, she announced the passing of Lua, saying that she “will always live within our hearts.” This expression of grief is a testament to the special relationship that the family had with their beloved dog.
This cloning effort was done through the company Colossal Biosciences, which focuses on state-of-the-art cloning and other technologies. Brady recapped his experience in working with the organization to utilize their non-invasive cloning technology. He collected a simple blood draw from Lua before her death that will allow this to be possible. He shared that this groundbreaking method helped them keep the spirit and personality of their beloved companion alive.
“A few years ago, I worked with Colossal and leveraged their non-invasive cloning technology through a simple blood draw of our family’s elderly dog before she passed.” – Tom Brady
Viagen, another company recognized for its cloning capabilities, has successfully cloned 15 species, including endangered animals such as the black-footed ferret and Przewalski’s horse. Viagen is unique in having, other than Colossal, successfully cloned endangered species. Famed for its robotic companions, the company has cloned pets for celebrities such as Paris Hilton and Barbra Streisand.
Brady said that Junie is “everything to me and my family.” His love for animals, and his willingness to say just how much they enrich his life, is without equal. As fate would have it, the cloning process took only a few short months, so he was able to quickly welcome Junie into his home.
On November 2, 2025, Brady stood on the field before an NFL game between the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions, further highlighting his connection to the sport while integrating personal life into the public eye.
