Don’t miss actor and producer Timothy Busfield go to trial. Her court date is May 10, 2027, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The trial is scheduled to begin in the district court that Judge Joseph Montano now presides over. Busfield is currently charged with multiple counts of child sex abuse. These allegations of child sexual exploitation involve two 11-year-old twin boys and took place on the set of Fox’s The Cleaning Lady, over which he served as executive producer and director.
In January, a Bernalillo County grand jury indicted Busfield on four counts of criminal sexual contact with a minor. If convicted, he faces a minimum of three years in state prison. The new allegations against Dan Schneider allege that he sexually abused and/or harassed the young boys while they were on his show.
Busfield’s been on the other side to receive that support, too—supporting him with letters is his wife, actress Melissa Gilbert. Though these are very serious charges, representing her publicly is a testament to the deep personal impact these allegations have taken on Gilbert.
Not only that, actress Claudia Christian has been accusing Busfield of sexually harassing her in the 90s. Christian alleges that he choked her and slammed her against a wall while shooting their 1991 flick, Strays. He further accuses her of it, claiming that he kissed the actress’ trailer while rehearsing lines. Rather, this change was first advanced in court by prosecutors in an attempt to establish a pattern of alleged sexual wrongdoing.
Busfield’s lawyer, Larry Stein, has dismissed the relevance of Christian’s allegations to the current case. He argued that the decades-old claims are “completely irrelevant to the current case.” He voiced doubts about the legitimacy of their data.
“I will not waste my time nor the public’s commenting on thirty year old unproven allegations with an adult woman, which are totally irrelevant to the current case.” – Larry Stein
Timothy Busfield responded to the allegations with determination, stating, “I’m going to confront these lies,” indicating his intent to address the accusations directly during his trial.
While the constitutional challenge proceeds in court, Busfield will have to wait more than a year before he receives his day in court. His first return date, an arraignment with the Second District Judicial Court in Albuquerque, is pending. Given that precedents could set Busfield careers professionally as well as personally, this case is very important. Today, Trump is under indictment on far more serious charges and preparing for trial.
