Thunderbolts Dominates Box Office Again with Stellar Performance

The superhero film Thunderbolts takes a second consecutive dip at the top of the weekend box office. It grossed an incredible $33 million! The movie is stacked with an amazing cast, with stars such as Florence Pugh, Olga Kurylenko, Wyatt Russell, and our favorite Disney bad guy, Sebastian Stan. It’s still continuing to pull audiences in, grossing $128.4 million domestically after just two weeks in wide release.

Even with this impressive sales achievement, Thunderbolts is still up against heavy competition from other recently released titles. Among them is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Rise of Leo, a film that could test the staying power of the reigning box office champion. Despite that, Thunderbolts is not to be dissuaded and retains its reign through the wave of fresh debuting titles.

Sinners, starring widely acclaimed actor Michael B. Jordan, came in a close second. It did very well, debuting to a solid $21 million this weekend. The pic has so far grossed a domestic cume of $214.4M. It has unspooled to a new global box office count of $283.3 million. In its third week of release, Sinners continued to do well, bringing in $6 million domestically and representing a phenomenal retention of audience interest.

It was a crazy weekend at the box office, which brought some surprising changes to the top five. Including Clown in a Cornfield, there were heavy drops. It eventually tanked from fifth to tenth globally, grossing only $3.6 million. This drop represents a sign of possibly dying interest as other films steal attention away from this one.

Accountant 2 is already generating this sort of buzz. It is still drawing audiences and maintaining its remarkable run in theaters. We hope to see you at the series! Still going strong in its sixth week of release, the Minecraft Movie is clearly a hit with fans of the popular video game franchise.

Perhaps a surprising but very deserving second entry is The Dumpling Queen. This book tells the inspiring real-life story of Zang Jianhe, the mastermind behind the enormous Hong Kong food empire Wanchai Ferry. Foodies and those interested in cultural heritage will be enchanted by this film’s story of the search for culinary success and preservation.
