The Sporty Pursuits of the Royal Family

Prince William gave a glimpse into the life of his kids on the move just a couple of weeks ago during a discussion with actor Eugene Levy. He shone a light on the many different sports and hobbies that have Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis and Prince George constantly interested and active.

Prince Louis, the youngest of the three, has fostered a special passion for trampolining. According to Prince William, the siblings often find themselves “jumping up and down on the trampoline, beating each other up, most of the time.” This exciting challenge does much more than keep them visually engaged — it helps their physical maturation too.

Trampolining gives children unbelievable developmental advantages. First off, it builds core strength and helps keep little ones moving, which makes sailing one of the perfect pastimes for their holistic development and overall wellness.

Besides Prince Louis’s trampoline moves, Princess Charlotte is into netball and ballet—apparently a very athletic royal! At the same time, over in the Commonwealth, Prince George has a love for soccer and ice hockey. The range of events just goes to show how passionate the youth of Wales are about sport. Prince William addressed how important this level of engagement is for their well-being.

And while the kids are definitely in it to win it, their moms and dads are equally as competitive. The Prince and Princess have attended matches many times. These games very quickly become a psychological test.

“I don’t think we’ve managed to finish a game of tennis, the two of us,” – Kate Middleton

“It becomes a mental challenge between the two of us,” – Kate Middleton

As competitive as this spirit can be, it seems to serve the family dynamic well, developing a strong sense of teamwork and resilience among the children. Prince William recognized this impish spirit in their home, quipping as the new king about the joys and perils of tennis.

“Apparently, there is an art to it,” – Prince William

Keeping the Wales children busy with various sports and outdoor activities is a priority for Prince William and Princess Catherine. They recognize the key role that changing how their kids get to school plays in helping instill lifelong healthy habits in their kids.
