Martin illustrated The Beach Boys’ impact on The Beatles. He explained, “I think what happened is that they were kind of like, ‘Oh, if The Beach Boys could do this, we’re the Beatles. We can definitely do this!’ Meetings between the mythical bands inspired experimentation and fueled musical invention. As you can see, the Beach Boys were key in inspiring much of the most memorable music of the 20th century.
Furthermore, tracks such as “I Get Around” served to address the group’s journey and feelings on the sudden fame they were receiving. This desire for something more became a unifying tenet for the fans, creating an atmosphere that demanded authenticity in songwriting.
