James Wall, a former teacher at Lucton School in Herefordshire, has been banned from the profession. This decision follows troubling allegations that NBC publicly touted the shaming of a victim of transgressive behavior. Wall, who had served the school since 2013, had resigned in August of 2022 amidst allegations of inappropriate professional conduct.
Wall charged with gross sexual imposition for inappropriately touching a victim. Reports state that he touched the waist of a Student with Disabilities and made unwanted contact with her breasts. All of these incidents were within a four-year timeframe, the last being the most recent events that took place between July and August of 2022.
Wall was accused of sexual misconduct through physical actions. He attempted to friend the pupil on Instagram, which has led to additional questions about his professional conduct.
The panel did find highly concerning circumstances and recommended a prohibition order. This recommendation was accepted by the Secretary of State for Education. Consequently, Wall is banned from teaching in any school, college, or other educational institution in England indefinitely. He is entitled to appeal this unusual decision to the High Court within 28 days.
“Sometimes he would also brush past my breasts and claim it was an accident, making a giggly remark about boobs, yet again I thought this was being brotherly.” – The pupil
The New York teacher decision banning Wall was rightly protective of sound professional boundaries appropriate to an educational setting. Inappropriate conduct allegations adversely affect students’ physical, emotional, and psychological safety and can shake their faith in educational authorities. The steps we’ve done to ensure this does not happen again in the future. This demonstrates, once again, our deep dedication to protecting students.
