Students Injured in Electric Shock Incident at Millfield School

On Saturday night three students as Millfield School in Somerset were seriously burned. In the HI injuries, electrical shock from overhead contact wires was the mechanism. The incident occurred shortly before 20:00 BST, prompting a swift response from emergency services and local authorities.

All of the impacted students, between the ages of 13 and 14, underwent emergency surgery for their injuries from electric shocks. Ultimately, Millfield School staff immediately mobilized to protect and support the affected pupils on site, while emergency services rapidly arrived on scene with life-saving intervention within minutes.

Avon and Somerset Police were part of the emergency response, working to make sure the students were tended to and stabilized. A spokesperson for Millfield School said the students were “on the mend” and in stable condition in hospital. Their families are waiting in the wings, often the first line of support.

“They are in a stable condition in hospital, with their families by their sides. There is no ongoing danger to others,” – Millfield spokesperson

In light of the incident, many safety advocates have called into question the movement’s safety protocols. Consequently, we have eagerly escalated the issue to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). In response to the crash, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) will now open a comprehensive investigation. They want to know what caused the electric shocks.

According to a spokesperson for Millfield School, the surrounding community has rallied around the students to support them as they process this difficult tragedy. They asked for privacy and respect as the families go through this challenging time.

“The entire Millfield Community’s thoughts and best wishes are with them all. We ask for everyone to respect their privacy and avoid speculation.” – Millfield spokesperson

With more information still developing, the school community remains focused on the caring for those affected. Beyond that, they’ve said they’re anxious to hear more from the investigation. Millfield School and the local authorities surrounding Millfield value the health and well-being of all students. They happen to be dealing with this egregious incident collectively.
