Stanley Tucci Reflects on His Most Authentic On-Screen Role

Stanley Tucci, a seasoned Hollywood actor with a career spanning four decades, has revealed his most relatable character yet. Known for his versatile acting skills and a wide array of roles, Tucci has left an indelible mark on the film industry. He made his film debut in the 1985 black-and-white mob comedy "Prizzi's Honor," directed by John Huston. Throughout his illustrious career, he has portrayed numerous mobsters and criminals in films such as "Billy Bathgate," "The Public Eye," and "The Pelican Brief."

In the 2006 film "The Devil Wears Prada," Tucci took on the role of Nigel, the stylish and somewhat acerbic art director of a fictional magazine. This role, he asserts, is the one he relates to most.

"He's very stylish, and he can be a bit caustic. But he's got a good heart," said Stanley Tucci.

Tucci's portrayal of Nigel became iconic, yet surprisingly, the success of "The Devil Wears Prada" did not immediately translate into a plethora of opportunities for the actor. Despite his extensive filmography that includes roles as soldiers, gangsters, priests, and even Stanley Kubrick, work was not easy to come by after this film.

"So I went and did stuff that I didn't necessarily want to do, but I did it," Tucci admitted regarding his career following the movie.

Tucci's talent has not gone unrecognized. He has been honored with six Emmys for his outstanding work. Additionally, he boasts two Golden Globes and two SAG awards, underscoring his exceptional contribution to the arts. In 2009, Tucci received an Academy Award nomination for his role in "The Lovely Bones," further cementing his status as one of Hollywood's finest actors.

Despite the challenges faced and roles undertaken out of necessity, Tucci's passion for acting remains unwavering. His ability to embody a wide range of characters continues to captivate audiences around the world. As he reflects on his career, it is clear that his portrayal of Nigel in "The Devil Wears Prada" holds a special place in his heart.

"I mean, I think I have a good heart," Tucci shared, drawing parallels between himself and his beloved character.
