Spotify is set to revolutionize its audiobook experience by leveraging artificial intelligence for voice narration. Teaming up with ElevenLabs, Spotify aims to provide authors with the ability to create AI-narrated audiobooks. This collaboration allows authors to easily generate and download AI-narrated content, which can then be uploaded to Findaway Voices by Spotify. Once uploaded, the content undergoes a standard review process before becoming available on the Spotify platform.
The move comes as part of Spotify’s strategy to expand its audiobook offerings, with hundreds of thousands already available for streaming. The integration of AI voice narration aims to enhance the accessibility and reach of authors' works. By utilizing Findaway Voices, authors can distribute their audiobooks to other retailers, thus broadening their audience base and reaching more listeners and fans.
Spotify has been exploring various AI features, albeit with some restrictions. While AI-generated songs are not supported, the company introduced AI-generated playlists in beta form last year. This feature enables users to create playlists from scratch by providing chatbot-like prompts, though it remains unavailable to the broader public.
The use of AI narration is specifically targeted at human-written compositions, supporting authors in narrating their existing works. The AI voice narration feature will be accessible in up to 29 languages, making it a versatile tool for authors worldwide. Spotify emphasizes the ease of use of this new feature, ensuring authors can effortlessly navigate the process.
