Southwest Airlines has launched its much-anticipated "Week of WOW" sale, featuring one-way flights starting at just $49. The sale began on Tuesday and will continue until 11:59 p.m. PT on January 9. With a variety of destinations available at this low fare, travelers can plan trips from Denver to El Paso, Dallas to New Orleans, or Las Vegas to San Diego. This sale coincides with Southwest's upcoming transition to assigned seating, marking a significant shift from its traditional open seating policy.
The "Week of WOW" sale includes several perks that make it an attractive option for travelers. Southwest's fares come with two free checked bags and no change fees, offering flexibility and value. Additionally, flight credits that do not expire are included, providing further convenience to passengers. To take advantage of these deals, travelers must book their tickets at least 21 days in advance.
The sale covers travel within the continental United States and inter-island Hawaii flights from January 28 to May 7. For international travel, flights to and from Hawaii, and travel to and from Puerto Rico, the valid travel dates extend from January 28 through May 22. However, blackout dates may vary depending on the destination. In Hawaii, travelers can enjoy $49 one-way flights between islands such as Honolulu, Maui, and Kona.
In the context of these exciting offers, Jennifer Bridie, the vice president of marketing at Southwest Airlines, expressed enthusiasm for the initiative in a statement shared with T+L:
“We’re excited to support our Customers who are ready to plan their next adventure by offering exclusive travel deals across our air, car, hotel and vacation packages,” Jennifer Bridie, the vice president of marketing at Southwest Airlines, said in a statement shared with T+L.
Adding to the allure of the sale, Southwest is also offering double Rapid Rewards points on cruises booked by January 31. This provides additional incentive for travelers looking to maximize their benefits while planning their vacations.
Looking ahead, Southwest plans to implement assigned seating starting in the second half of 2025 for travel in the first half of 2026. This change signifies a major evolution in the airline's passenger experience strategy.
