Unfortunately for women and girls, Tate’s toxic presence on social media is going to get worse after being reinstated on X. This decision came after Elon Musk’s takeover of the platform in 2022.
Tate’s incredible misogynist rhetoric has led to backlash. Just last month, he had the audacity to argue on X that women need to take “responsibility” for getting raped. This outrageous statement is far from the first, having already drawn backlash and further scrutiny, this time from many advocates. Rape and coercive control charges by four women in the United States. Their congressional accusations have resulted in a civil suit against him.
Though he was under travel restrictions from those investigations, Tate was allowed to travel to Romania from Florida. His unexpected return to Romania is a major and surprising new twist in the long-running legal case. Tate intentionally promotes a lifestyle glorifying misogyny and uses his mainstream platform to push this ideology. Indeed, he unabashedly rolls with the flag-wavers, including US President Donald Trump.
