Six-year-old Lily Sullivan and her 4-year-old brother Jack have mysteriously disappeared from their home in Pictou County, Nova Scotia. They have now been gone for four days. When she woke up Friday morning, she found her little brothers gone. On her return, she reported them missing without delay.
That search for the siblings started just after Brooks-Murray figured out they were gone. Just a few hours earlier that morning, she’d listened to them performing from the next room before falling back asleep herself. Pictou County is located nearly 70 miles from Halifax, Nova Scotia’s capital. As of Monday, it had turned into the headquarters for a sprawling, multi-state search effort that includes over 100 searchers, helicopters, drones and search dogs.
It’s possible that Lily & Jack simply wandered off from their house. Authorities think that’s what happened. On Saturday, searchers found a footprint that showed she had moved, expanding search efforts with a new line of investigation and coordinating efforts to cover nearby places in detail.
Community members, including the family’s gofundme organizers have rallied around the family during this tragic time. Daniel Martell, a family friend, described the bond between the siblings, stating, “Lily loves girly things but she loves doing everything with Jack. They’re like best friends, not just brother and sister.”
As the search moves into its fourth day, community support for the Sullivan family is getting stronger. Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston said his heart goes out to the children and their family in tweets earlier today. He mentioned that “people across Nova Scotia are praying for a positive outcome” for Lily and Jack.
Michelle Glasgow, another friend of the family, urged the community to help during a press conference. She urged, “Please help bring Lily and Jack back home.”
Like the volunteer search teams, we remain hopeful. Together, these volunteers diligently scour the thick forest and rural outskirts of Pictou County. The creative community is the strongest in its resolve. They are working tirelessly to find these missing siblings and return them home safely and securely to their family of origin.
