Sarah Jessica Parker Discusses Parenting and Education at HBO Max Premiere

On December 8, 2021, Sarah Jessica Parker dazzled during the HBO Max launch of “And Just Like That” in New York City. She invited her husband, Matthew Broderick, and their son, James Wilkie Broderick, to witness the magical moment. The audience engagement piece revealed her most recent project. It revealed Parker’s deep dedication to her family’s values — particularly when it came to prioritizing education and personal development.

Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick are the proud parents of three children: their 15-year-old son, James Wilkie, and 15-year-old twin daughters, Tabitha Hodge and Marion Loretta Elwell. The couple have transacted their wealth into their kids’ dreams, money clearly witnessed in the blistering start to oldest child James’ acting career.

Parker argued for the need for educational choice and personal fulfillment for America’s youth today. Like us, she thinks there’s no one way to win, no one way to grow up.

“I don’t think that there is one way to be an educated person or to be equipped to be an adult and try to fashion a life for yourself after what would be considered ‘finishing college’ — let’s say 22 years old,” – Sarah Jessica Parker

She lobbied for her kids to carve out their own ways, do what jazzed them, and follow their passions. Parker stated, “I really want my children to be educated in the ways that are fulfilling to them.” This is a testimony to her realization that the path to adulthood is very different for different people.

Additionally, Parker stressed the importance of seeking out hard and fulfilling work. She articulated her hopes for her children, saying, “You want for them to be pursuing things that are exciting and challenging and hard and gratifying and to be able to ultimately take care of themselves, support themselves — emotionally, financially.”

In addition to her family’s support for James Wilkie’s acting aspirations, Parker has publicly backed her friend Cynthia Nixon in her political endeavors, showcasing an engagement in social issues alongside her family responsibilities.

The couple had in the past taken their children out to different public events, which included the prime opening night of production “Oh, Mary!” Their rootedness in the arts, from poetry to theater, shows their family’s dedication to encouraging an appreciation for creativity and artistry.

Parker’s honest take on parenting resonates with so many, including McCullough. She’s an advocate for a broader vision for education that reimagines what success and even an education looks like.

“I’m curious to see what they all do, but I hope that they feel — I hope all young people feel — to some degree, that they have choices, and that there isn’t one way,” – Sarah Jessica Parker
