Royal Support: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Attend Invictus Games in Vancouver

The Invictus Games, an international multi-sport event for wounded, injured, and sick servicemen and women, both serving and veterans, recently held its 2025 edition at BC Place in Vancouver. The event, known for celebrating the courage and spirit of its competitors, drew attention as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, attended the festivities. The couple joined thousands of spectators in the packed stadium to witness performances from renowned artists such as Chris Martin, Katy Perry, and Nelly Furtado.

Originating in London, the Invictus Games has traveled across the globe with previous events held in Orlando, Toronto, Sydney, The Hague, and Dusseldorf. It continues to be a significant occasion for competitors from 23 nations who gather to showcase their resilience and athletic prowess. The opening ceremony in Vancouver was a particularly emotional moment, with many participants moved to tears by the magnitude of the occasion.

Prince Harry, a staunch advocate for veterans, addressed the crowd during the opening ceremony. He emphasized the self-empowerment of the competitors, saying:

"Over the past decade I’ve lost count of the times we’ve heard you tell us that the Invictus Games saved you. Respectfully, I disagree. Invictus didn’t save you. You saved yourself." – Prince Harry

The royal couple not only supported the participants but also enjoyed the event's lively atmosphere. They were seen dancing during the performances, fully immersing themselves in the celebratory spirit.

Following the day's events, Prince Harry and Meghan dined with friends Michael Buble and his wife Luisana at Vij's, a popular Indian restaurant in Vancouver. Vikram Vij, the owner and head chef, expressed admiration for the couple:

"They are amazing, extremely beautiful, and very friendly." – Vikram Vij

During the dinner, Prince Harry opted for lamb popsicles, while Meghan was intrigued by the restaurant's pasta dish. Vikram Vij shared his impressions of Meghan's culinary curiosity:

"Meghan is awesome and loved all the food. She remembered the chilis from last time, and I was totally impressed because she knew bhindi is the Hindi word for okra." – Vikram Vij
