Royal Family Welcomes Newest Member: Princess Beatrice Introduces Baby Athena

Britain's royal family has grown as Princess Beatrice and her husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, joyfully welcome their daughter, Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi. Buckingham Palace announced the birth of Athena on Wednesday, revealing that the princess gave birth on January 22 at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London. The baby girl weighed 4 pounds and 5 ounces at birth.

The couple named their daughter Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi, honoring the family's royal heritage. Athena is the second child for Beatrice and Mapelli Mozzi, who are already parents to a three-year-old daughter, Sienna. Additionally, they share their life with eight-year-old Wolfie, Mapelli Mozzi's son from a previous relationship.

Princess Beatrice shared the first photo of Athena, taken by her husband, Mapelli Mozzi. This intimate glimpse into their family life marks a new chapter for Beatrice, who is the eldest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson. She is also a niece of King Charles III and granddaughter of the late Queen Elizabeth II.

In July 2020, Beatrice and Mapelli Mozzi wed in a private ceremony at the Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge, Windsor. Their marriage has since been blessed with two daughters. The arrival of Athena marks the fifth grandchild for Beatrice's parents, as her younger sister, Princess Eugenie, is a mother to two children, August and Ernest, with her husband, Jack Brooksbank.

The royal family expressed their delight at the news of Athena's birth.

"Their Majesties The King and Queen and other members of The Royal Family have all been informed and are delighted with the news." – Buckingham Palace

This addition to the royal family further enriches its legacy and brings joy to both immediate and extended family members.
