Royal Family Relocates to Forest Lodge on Windsor Castle Estate

As of this past month, Prince William and Kate Middleton have relocated—officially. Forest Lodge, located on the Windsor Castle estate, is now their permanent home. This transition marks down a new path for the couple and their three kids. The Founders are especially thrilled to get to make themselves at home in their new eight-bedroom flat.

Prince George is now 12 years old. He is relocating along with his 10 year old sister Charlotte and 7 year old brother Louis. The young royals have just left Lambrook School, close to the Middletons’ home in Berkshire. This decision came during their stay at Adelaide Cottage, their family’s permanent home since 2022. Prior to their residence at Adelaide Cottage, the family resided at Kensington Palace since 2017.

Forest Lodge, the family’s new home, received major renovations, which were paid for by Prince William and Kate Middleton before they made the move. She said the decision to move was partly driven by needing more space as their children get older. The newly-married couple only recently came into ownership of Forest Lodge, their new home. They own outright – and apart from the Crown Estate – Kensington Palace and Anmer Hall on the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.

Relocating to Windsor provides the children greater room to roam and flourish. This new environment encourages their development inside the royal bubble. The family’s previous residence at Adelaide Cottage provided a charming setting but lacked the spaciousness that Forest Lodge now offers.

So as George, Charlotte and Louis all get used to their new home, they’re still pursuing schooling locally with Charlotte now old enough to start. The proximity of Lambrook School remains a convenience for the family as they navigate this new phase in their lives.
