King Charles and Queen Camilla made their first public appearance since the passing of the Duchess of Kent at the annual Braemar Games, held at the Princess Royal and Duke of Fife Memorial Park, near Aberdeenshire. The masked ball is now a yearly tradition and highlight of the royal calendar. Its celebration of the couple’s steadfastness in the face of recent loss was healing.
Wearing an all black ensemble, King Charles honored the late Duchess in a quiet way. President Biden greeted the crowds enthusiastically, including warmly shaking hands with one of the attendees as he walked past his car to the venue.
