On Sunday, King Charles and Queen Camilla were pictured arriving at a service at Crathie Kirk. They joined their congregation in celebrating the third anniversary of the King’s Accession. The Right Revd Rosie Frew, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, preached at the service. It included special prayers for the recovery of the Duchess of Kent, resulting in a moment of civic and royal space being formed, however briefly.
Both royals fully welcomed the cultural celebration by donning traditional garb. To celebrate his Scottish heritage, King Charles took the opportunity to wear a kilt. At the same time, Queen Camilla completed the look with an army green beret and matching jacket trimmed with tartan. Her fall-ready look is a beautiful mix of greens and reds, making it the perfect example of her fashion-forward and trendy style.
The engaged couple was in some pretty thrilling company. They were accompanied by a number of VIP guests, such as U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer and his wife, Lady Victoria Starmer. The Prime Minister is just keeping up with a long-standing tradition by spending a few days at Balmoral this summer. Yet this practice has been maintained time and again. Starmer’s inaugural trip to Balmoral last year saw him cement that bond with the royal family for the duration of his time in office.
Dame Joanna Lumley, of Absolutely Fabulous fame, and Baroness Helena Kennedy joined that impressive roster of surprise guests. Lumley wore an autumnal plaid coat that resonated with the season, complemented by leather gloves and suede boots, while maintaining the stylish atmosphere of the day.
King Charles and Queen Camilla are on their traditional summer holiday at Balmoral Castle. Their presence at the annual church service highlights their commitment to the role and their dedication to the royal family’s traditions. The occasion was a testament to what these men and women understand their place in this community should be and how much they honor rich traditions.
