Queen Mary Shines in Floral Pantsuit While Advocating for Children’s Recreation

Queen Mary of Denmark recently made headlines with her stylish appearance at two significant events, showcasing her commitment both to fashion and to charitable causes. The 53-year-old royal looked chic in an Etro dark floral pantsuit. The ensemble featured a trendy wrap top and flared pants that lengthened her pins while attending a board meeting with her non-profit organization, Mary Fonden. Most importantly, she wore no makeup, a powerful act that drew attention to her natural beauty.

The meeting focused on the importance of recreational activities for children, discussing how these experiences can foster community and personal growth. At the gala, Queen Mary was spotted in a new pair of Gucci reading glasses, complementing her elegant, yet regal appearance. Her makeup-free appearance featured defined brows and straightened hair, which now boasts a lighter auburn color with caramel lowlights framing her face.

On the day prior to the meeting, Queen Mary had presented the Carlsberg Foundation’s Research Awards at Glyptoteket in Copenhagen. Once again, she made a bold fashion statement with her Etro pantsuit, putting her fabulous sense of style on display to support an important humanitarian cause.

In 2007, Queen Mary set up the Mary Fonden. Her mission was to improve children and young people’s lives across the board through targeted initiatives. Her commitment to this cause was clear at last week’s board meeting. There, she represented the children’s sector well, advocating strongly for the need to better understand children and young people’s engagement in recreation.

“A recreational activity where you feel safe, learn new things and have fun, can be the foundation for a unique sense of community, personal development and greater self-esteem. But how do more children and young people become part of leisure? How will they be met and seen when they show up? And what makes them stop? These were some of the questions that were discussed. Too many of the answers we actually don’t know yet. But we in Mary Fonden want to learn even more about that. So, together with other good forces, we can hopefully create even more communities for children and young people in their spare time, where they feel belonging.” – Queen Mary.

Queen Mary and Prince Frederik recently launched Nature Week from Ryvangen Nature Park in Østerbro, Copenhagen. She still has her own important work with Mary Fonden going on. She enthusiastically participated with the local schoolchildren in fun activities such as bug hunting and kindling a bonfire. Such participation underscores the essential part outdoor recreation plays in developing America’s young people.

Creatively, intellectually, and personally, Queen Mary marries glamour with activism. She remains an example and inspiration to millions as she maintains her royal obligations while pursuing her love of philanthropy. Her dedication to getting children off the couch and into the great wide world continues to be a big part of her public messaging.
