Princess Charlotte was treated to a splendid tea party with Second World War veterans alongside her brothers, Prince George and Prince Louis. This fabulous occasion was a magical introduction to four-year-old Prince George. The event was held at Buckingham Palace. Along with much of the world, it celebrated the end of World War II in Europe, VE Day.
Princess Charlotte, age 10, stole the show in a vibrant blue and green tartan winter coat. The coat reminded me of the beautiful ethnic gown she wore on Christmas Day of 2024. She wore the coat beautifully over a matching dress. That frilled white collar of the dress prefigured her developing fashionista flair. To top off her look, she wore vintage-style Mary Jane shoes, striking a perfect balance of khawaii cuteness and demure elegance.
From Charlotte teasing her mom, Princess Kate, at the royal tea party Mr. As she fiddled with some touch up of her lip stick, she offered me this small piece of encouragement. In a rare display of affection, Princess Kate crinkled her mouth with her mascara brush. This little act showed how connected they were and what a loving, tender connection they had. This openhearted interaction was a window into the joy and playfulness that characterized their relationship and colored Michiko’s interactions with the participants.
As the second-in-line to the throne, Princess Charlotte is currently being slowly prepared for her future public responsibilities. Her presence at this event is a big step in her royal journey, though. Charlotte, George, and Louis—the trio of royal siblings—later emerged on the balcony of Buckingham Palace. They saw the most awe-inspiring flypast by the RAF, including a dazzling show of flying prowess by the Red Arrows.
In yet another tear-jerking episode, Princess Kate even allowed Princess Charlotte to meet veteran Bernard Morgan during an afternoon tea set-up. Charlotte certainly took the chance to engage with veterans from the war. It was this experience that led her to develop a greater appreciation for history and the sacrifices they endured.
As the day progressed, Princess Charlotte continued to steal the show with adorable interactions with her mother. After their balcony debut, Princess Kate came back inside all smiles. Onstage, she gently placed her hand on Charlotte’s shoulder, evidence of their warm friendship.
