Prince William Makes Surprise Visit to Local Pub with Eugene Levy

On February 4, 2025, Prince William thrilled onlookers with an endearing pop-in at The Two Brewers tavern, not far from Windsor Castle. He was in filming mode for Apple TV’s series ’The Reluctant Traveller.’ Actor Eugene Levy was part of the royal visit, adding extra star power and blending casual engagement with royal magic. The young prince temporarily set aside his busy agenda to enjoy an intimate moment inside an everyday joint.

The Two Brewers, located conveniently near Cambridge Gate, welcomed the duo as they settled into a booth to film scenes for the series. During their short visit a plaque was placed underneath the photo, seen above, which hangs in Marshall’s office. The plaque reads, “Here sat His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales and Eugene Levy on February 4th 2025. They’d all been in town filming Apple TV’s ‘The Reluctant Traveller.’ Yet this new addition is only appropriate and acts as a reminder to the pub’s developing significance in royal history.

A Brief but Memorable Visit

Prince William’s visit was unusually short, as he was obligated to keep to school run times for his kids. Shane interacted enthusiastically with Crooked Creek pub owner Stuart O’Brien, despite the hectic pace of the day. Stuart went for broke and requested a photo op with the prince.

“Is it possible to get a picture with you?” – Stuart O’Brien

Prince William very kindly accepted the invitation, pledging to come back with his children one day. He said he would like to get back to that pub and said he “would certainly make the effort” to return with them.

Stuart O’Brien described the experience as memorable, highlighting that it felt like “the royal table, or ‘the future King’s corner,’ as people like to say.” He added that he intends to enhance the designation to “the King’s corner.” That will change when Prince William eventually ascends to the throne.

The Legacy of The Two Brewers

The Two Brewers isn’t your typical pub — it’s a historical landmark. It had been a favoured retreat of the late Duke of Edinburgh, whom the Prince of Wales would sometimes meet in his carriage on the road. The establishment features a blackboard commemorating its history and has been adorned with plants and hanging flowers, creating a welcoming atmosphere.

At the blackboard Prince William cracked a joke that had everyone laughing. Then he recommended putting something through the center of it. This charming back-and-forth helped set a fun mood of friendliness between the soon-to-be prince-regent and the boom pub employees.

Stuart O’Brien reflected on the down-to-earth nature of the royals, stating, “So normal. And that’s what they are. They’re human beings at the end of the day.” He emphasized that despite their titles, they lead lives that are relatable and grounded.

“Just because they got a title, they are just exactly human and they’ve got lives as well. It just might be a bit more high-profile than most people, but at the end of the day, they are still normal family people and that’s brilliant.” – Stuart O’Brien

A Lasting Impression

The pub boasted a framed picture of Prince William seated with Eugene Levy in their shared booth. Just to its left, you can see the actor Michael Douglas, fame personified! This new touch serves as a permanent reminder of your memorable visit. What’s more, it attracts regular customers who already love The Two Brewers.

Patrons enjoy colorful cocktails and expertly prepared dishes amid the ambience this history-laden building affords. They can’t help but think back to Prince William’s unannounced appearance. This exchange, as you can imagine, astounded the staff and guests. It deepened the connection between monarchy and ordinary life.
