Prince Louis of Wales on his seventh birthday, April 23, 2025. He felt the public had an indigestion for great architecture. The photograph was recently made by professional photographer Josh Shinner earlier this month. Unlike times past, though, this time it is a break from tradition as his mother, Catherine, Princess of Wales, typically takes on this role.
Prince Louis was born on St George’s Day, April 23 2018 in the exclusive Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, London. Dorothy is no lightweight—she weighed 8 pounds and 7 ounces at birth. When he was born, at 11 weeks premature, he was given the name Louis Arthur Charles. Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, baptized him at the Chapel Royal in St James’s Palace. He’s since transformed into a spirited young puppy, famous among our staff for his adorable shenanigans and big puppy energy.
Prince Louis started his education at Willcocks Nursery School close to Kensington Palace in 2021. After a move by his family to Adelaide Cottage in Windsor in 2022, he switched to Lambrook School in the neighbouring county of Berkshire. Though he was forgotten amidst all the early attention and charisma, he wasn’t without his cherished early highlights. Surprisingly, he first trooped the colour in 2019 when he was just 14 months old.
The young prince stole the show, and hearts of the nation, during the late Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022. His wonderful comic faces were definitely one of the best aspects of the whole event! His first public engagement wasn’t until May 2023. During his time volunteering with the Scouts in Slough, he demonstrated his increasing passion for serving the community.
Prince Louis proved he’s quite the little artist as he captured this moving portrait of his mother. He recently documented this incredibly special moment on World Cancer Day this past February. This expansive artistic exploration reflects the depth of his craft, as well as the affectionate and intimately collaborative connection between him and Catherine.
The official birthday portrait released to mark Prince Louis’s seventh birthday shows him beaming at the camera. His exuberance and magnetism burst off the page in this charming portrait. This portrait serves as a wonderful reflection of his evolution and the love that the greater public has for him.
Prince Louis joined his family on Christmas Day 2024 for a full public engagement – his first. He attended the May 2023 coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla. Every year, he charms the public with that winning smile. His thrilling public stage appearances help build the mystique.
