Prince Archie, son of Prince Harry and Princess Meghan Markle, turned six on May 6, 2023. He’s getting so tall, and really tall for his age!
Archie’s early life Archie was born in London, United Kingdom. He currently resides in California with his parents and little sister, Lilibet, where he’s spent the majority of his life.
Archie was delivered at the Portland Hospital in London. The moment was momentous for the royal family, too, as he became the first grandchild of King Charles III. Ever since Prince Harry and Meghan stepped down from royal duties in 2020, they have placed a significant emphasis on their son’s privacy. Yet they have made the unconventional choice to raise him well away from the royal spotlight.
This year’s birthday celebrations come in the wake of Prince Harry’s recent loss in his ongoing legal battle for protection security while in the U.K. He commented on the difficulty of feeling like he could go back to his home country after everything that’s happened.
I love my country…. I miss the U.K. After all, I’m the one who misses the U.K. most of the time. It breaks my heart to imagine that I will not be able to point out my homeland to my future kids. – Harry
Their family of four, which includes Archie and Lilibet, have not visited the United Kingdom as a family since 2022. This lack of travel raises questions about future family visits, especially with Harry stating, “I can’t see a world in which … I would be bringing my wife and children back to the U.K. at this point, and the things that they’re going to miss is, well, everything.”
As a young pup, Archie made headlines at the time of the photocall. This was a special event held in St George’s Hall, Windsor Castle on May 8th 2019. The celebration provided a unique opportunity for citizens to catch a glimpse of the young prince. It was one of the last times you saw him and his parents together, shortly after his birth.
While Prince Archie is celebrating this exciting new milestone birthday, like his sister he has the privilege of growing up away from royal commitments and public duties. Now, he’s living a quieter life on the California coast. This frees his parents up to focus on giving him and Lilibet all the love and care they deserve.
