Pete Davidson Cheers for Ariana Grande’s Oscar Bid in “Wicked”

Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson, once the talk of the town, are back in the spotlight as Davidson publicly supports Grande's Oscar nomination. The former couple, who got engaged in June 2018, have come a long way since their whirlwind romance. Grande recently received her first Oscar nomination for her portrayal of Glinda in the film "Wicked," where she is up for Best Supporting Actress. The film itself has garnered nine additional nominations, including Best Picture, Best Actress, and Best Film Editing.

Davidson and Grande began dating in the spring of 2018, capturing the public's attention with their rapid engagement just a few months later. During their relationship, Grande released the song "Pete Davidson" on her album "Sweetener" in August 2018, a testament to their then-budding romance. Davidson even got a tattoo of a bunny mask reminiscent of Grande's "Dangerous Woman" album cover, a gesture that symbolized their intense connection.

However, by October 2018, the couple called off their engagement. Despite the split, Grande gave Davidson a shout-out in her hit single "Thank U, Next" in November 2018, highlighting the amicable nature of their separation. In recent developments, Davidson has expressed his support for Grande's Oscar aspirations. He told PageSix, "I hope she wins the Oscar, I hope she takes the gold," displaying his unwavering encouragement for her success.

Davidson has been open about his struggles in the entertainment industry. Reflecting on his career and personal challenges, he stated, "The innocence in my eyes made me so sad," upon rewatching his audition tape for SNL. He candidly shared the difficulties he faced, remarking, "Showbiz is so tough, and I didn’t know how tough it was… I picked the wrong business to have a mental illness and go into. I'm one of the most insecure and sad people ever, and I picked the most insecure, sad business to go into."

Despite their past and the infrequent encounters they have now, Davidson maintains a positive outlook towards Grande. He noted, "When we see each other, which is few and far between, because we’re not in the same circles, it’s all love." His sentiments underscore the mutual respect and admiration that linger despite their paths diverging.
