The first family of the White House celebrating Sasha Obama’s 24th birthday the other day. Sasha got sweet notes from each of her parents, and they commemorated the milestone with a beautiful family portrait. Sasha, the younger daughter of former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama, was born in June of 2001. Her family would be moving into the White House nearly eight years to the day. She lived her impressionable years in the state’s executive mansion while her father, Democratic Gov.
Interestingly, Sasha’s sister, Malia Obama, is currently 26 years old. She’s still making history every day on the sets of film and television. Malia graduated from Harvard University in May of 2021. A few months ago, she made waves by premiering her intimate short film, “The Heart,” at the Sundance Film Festival. The sisters have both recently moved into adulthood under the microscope of public scrutiny.
“Happy birthday, Sasha! Watching you grow into the incredible woman you are has been a true gift. I’ll always be proud of you and will always be here for you,” he wrote, capturing the essence of a father’s pride.
Former First Lady, Michelle Obama, participated in the celebration by sharing a very happy message on her Instagram account. She posted a lovely family photo with photoshopped grins on everyone’s faces. In her post, she expressed her deep love for her daughter with a heartfelt message: “Happy birthday to my sweet girl, Sasha! Can’t believe how quickly time has flown. I’m so proud of the woman you’ve become. Love you always! 💕🥳🎉.”
Their social media tributes show that while they are of course celebrating, they are demonstrating the intimate intertwined lives of the tightly knit Obama family. In a recent interview on Melinda French Gates’ podcast, Michelle Obama discussed the challenges and joys of raising Sasha and Malia in the public eye. She noted, “You’re not going to live here, and with me, forever. So I’ve got to hand you your life soon and let you manage it.”
Sasha’s academic success, and the possibilities of her future success, have been one of the primary sources of pride for her family. She just graduated in May 2023 from the University of Southern California, showing that she is dedicated to her education and growing as a person.
