On June 12, 2015, New Kids on the Block reunited for their long-awaited comeback on “Good Morning America.” Their performance was the thrilling opening to the program’s Summer Concert Series. The iconic boy band, consisting of Donnie Wahlberg, Jordan Knight, Jonathan Knight, Joey McIntyre, and Danny Wood, performed some of their biggest hits, including “Step by Step” and “You Got It (The Right Stuff).” The band’s performance not only thrilled these loyal fans, but commemorated the 35th anniversary of their cherished album appropriately.
In their testimony, Wahlberg shared his band’s appreciation for being able to perform on such a massive and recognizable platform. “We’re honored every single time,” he continued, emphasizing the importance of their relationship with the crowd. The band flew from their Las Vegas residency directly to New York City for this special appearance. Their commitment to engaging with fans in all 50 states is second to none.
In addition to their live performance, New Kids on the Block announced the release of a special anniversary edition of their iconic album, set to debut on June 13. This release further emphasizes the band’s lasting impact in the music industry and their dedication to celebrating their history with fans.
They’re preparing for their new, upcoming Las Vegas residency at Dolby Live at Park MGM. We’re really looking forward to the show opening on June 20, the anticipation is almost palpable! This marks New Kids on the Block’s first-ever residency in Las Vegas, and band member Joey McIntyre shared his enthusiasm, stating, “We’re so blessed. We have so much fun together.”
Looking back on their journey, Wahlberg smiled thinking about early performances on “GMA,” remembering the minutes that felt impossible at the time. “If you look back at some of those old appearances on ‘GMA,’ it’s like, ‘These guys are never going to make it,’” he said. He added that they owe their success to their loyal fanbase, saying, “Kind of everything we do is all about them.”
The band’s performance on “GMA” came just a few days before the show unveils its new studio in downtown New York City on June 16. This new environment has already greatly improved performances and interactions with our guests so far this season.
