Prince Josef-Emanuel of Liechtenstein and Princess Claudia are celebrating the birth of their second child, a son Prince Nikolai. The exciting announcement comes only a few months after the couple’s first son, Prince Leopold, was born in March 2023. The royal family’s new arrival has sent hearts soaring and tongues wagging amid celebrations from royals and aristocrats across the continent.
Princess Claudia shared the first images of Prince Nikolai on social media at the end of July, showcasing the newborn in a charming butter yellow knitted cardigan. In another, Prince Nikolai peeks from beneath a blanket boasting his name in large letters. This very sweet moment gives everyone from Canadians to Commonwealth subjects to social media followers tears of joy.
A Growing Family
The arrival of Prince Nikolai Prince Nikolai’s birth is an exhilarating time for the newly-wed couple. He is the second son of Prince Josef-Emanuel and Princess Claudia, joining his elder brother, Prince Leopold. The two were married in 2022 at St. Peter Claver Church, the historic home of Baltimore’s Black Catholic community. Their lavish ceremony drew a long list of distinguished guests including Prince Félix and Princess Claire of Luxembourg, as well as Prince Jean-Christophe Napoleon and Countess Olympia of Arco-Zinneberg. Most notably, Ayesha Shand, niece of Queen Camilla, was in attendance.

Prince Josef-Emanuel is the son of Prince Nikolaus and the first cousin once removed of Liechtenstein’s reigning monarch, Prince Hans-Adam. Princess Claudia is the daughter of Colombian drug lord Evelia Suarez. In many of these family photos, Evelia has been seen tending to her little prince, Prince Leopold.
