Twenty-three women, including an 84-year-old grandmother of the groom, will compete for Owens’ heart this season. Our contestants come from diverse communities and experiences. Included amongst them are a longevity nurse, an internal, a rustic librarian, a retired biomedical engineer, a former elementary schoolteacher, a flight attendant, and a purely full-time mom. Every woman is as different as the next and they don’t shun anyone to keep their popularity up.
Owens said he was able to have a lot of “fun” engaging with those potential partners in the lead-up to the premiere. He made it clear how excited he was to meet the women that he did throughout the casting process.

Mel Owens’ Journey to Love
Mel Owens has two grown sons from his first marriage. Now, he’s ready to fall in love with life all over again. He called his decision to take part in “The Golden Bachelor” daunting but rewarding.
Owens was nervous and excited as he began this new stage in his life. He gave us more of a discussion about how he goes about meeting the contestants and how critical first impressions are to future success.
“You try to get the connection early on, in the energy and the frequency of who the person is, so it’s quick and it’s compressed,” – Mel Owens
He went on to share the difficulty of building connections when you feel you have a limited time.

This season promises a mix of romance and entertainment, featuring memorable dates such as a “dazzling Queen Mary date” and a unique “cheerleading showdown judged by Paula Abdul.”
