Meghan Markle Reveals Charming Twists in Her Children’s Accents

The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, recently made intriguing revelations about her children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, during an interview with Drew Barrymore. The interview, which will air on March 6, sheds light on the unique accents of Meghan's children, who have spent much of their young lives away from the public eye. Despite residing in California, the children occasionally speak with a British accent, a delightful nod to their royal heritage.

Meghan shared that certain words spoken by Archie and Lilibet carry a distinct British pronunciation. Her favorite example is how they pronounce "zebra" with a hard "zed," a pronunciation they likely picked up from their time in the UK.

"Some of the words that they still say with a British accent, so they'll say z-e-b-r-a," – Meghan

Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, born in 2019, was originally not given a royal title. However, following the ascension of his grandfather Charles to the throne in 2022, Archie became entitled to use the title of Prince. The name Mountbatten-Windsor is a family name used by male-line descendants of Queen Elizabeth II who do not possess royal styles and titles.

Meghan's conversation with Drew Barrymore also touched upon her pride in her Sussex surname. She corrected Barrymore during the interview, emphasizing her preference for being referred to by her full title.

"You keep saying, Meghan Markle, you know, I'm Sussex now," – Meghan

In recent years, Archie and Lilibet have largely remained out of the public spotlight. However, Meghan's return to Instagram has provided glimpses into their lives through videos and pictures. Moreover, her new Netflix series, "With Love, Meghan," offers further insights into her experiences and life in California with her children.

The Sussex title was conferred upon Prince Harry by Queen Elizabeth II in May 2018. Since then, both he and Meghan have embraced their roles as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Their daughter Lilibet, affectionately known as Lili, continues to grow up alongside her brother in California.
