Mathurin Shines as Pacers Take Control in NBA Finals

Bennedict Mathurin delivered an impressive performance in Game 3 of the NBA Finals, leading the Indiana Pacers to a pivotal 2-1 series lead against their opponent. The rookie in the playoffs poured in a career-high 27 points with an impressive offensive display featuring shooting and finishing prowess aplenty. Mathurin was definitely the star of the show, and rightfully so as he was the biggest difference-maker in clutch time when the game got tight.

During the match, Mathurin was very efficient with his shooting, going 9-for-12 from the field. He was impressive from long range, making 2 of his 3 three-point attempts. His excellence carried over to the charity stripe, where he went 7-for-8. In that impressive scoring performance, Mathurin pulled down 4 rebounds and handed out 1 assist. He demonstrated his potential as a rim protector by logging one block over his 22:24 of action.

Mathurin’s high-octane style was hard to ignore, though. He was a force of nature as soon as he stepped into the action during second and fourth quarters. This is his first playoff experience after having to watch from the sidelines last year with a season-ending surgery. Looking back on his path, Mathurin said he’s thankful for all he learned while sitting on the bench.

“I’m not trying to live in my dream,” – Bennedict Mathurin

Pacers’ Head Coach Rick Carlisle made sure to highlight Mathurin’s readiness for this opportunity. He noted that even though Mathurin was not playing last year, he remained engaged with the team and absorbed valuable insights.

“He was with the team. He just wasn’t playing,” – Rick Carlisle

The coach further acknowledged Mathurin’s hard work leading up to Game 3, stating that his efforts culminated in a standout performance that significantly contributed to the Pacers’ success.

“He took a lot of notes, a lot of mental notes, and he may have written some things down,” – Rick Carlisle

Mathurin’s efficiency and knack for the big moment have been key ingredients for Indiana as they ride their way through the finals. Only his growth as a player during the regular season. It’s all showing out in the playoffs. He’s always the one who answers the call when his team needs him.

“He’s putting a lot of work to be ready for these moments, and tonight he was an absolute major factor,” – Rick Carlisle

Mathurin’s efficiency and ability to perform under pressure have become crucial elements for Indiana as they navigate the finals. His growth as a player has been evident throughout the playoffs, where he has consistently stepped up when called upon.
