Manchester United has completed the transfer of highly-coveted forward Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford. This impactful signing strengthens their attacking depth for the 2024 season. The 24-year-old German-American, who can play anywhere across the backline, is under contract for the long haul. He is set to remain at Old Trafford until 2030 with an option for a further year.
Mbeumo arrives at Manchester United after an impressive tenure at Brentford, where he made 242 appearances and scored 70 goals. His whole recent performance has just been stellar. He matched a career high with 20 goals, and he was an undeniable force as Brentford more than doubled their points per game from 2021/22 and finished an impressive 10th in the Premier League. Last season, he registered 51 assists, proving capable not only as a goal scorer but as a playmaker to set up teammates.
The forward started his professional career at Ligue 2 club Troyes, joining Brentford in 2019. During his time with Brentford, Mbeumo established himself as a key player, starting every league match last season and becoming one of the most productive forwards in the league. In fact, only three players—Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak, and fellow Norwegian Erling Haaland—outscored him in the whole of the Premier League.
“Bryan’s goals and assists record in the Premier League is exceptional,” said Jason Wilcox, Manchester United’s Director of Football. “His remarkable consistency has put him amongst the most productive players in England for the last three seasons.”
Mbeumo’s versatility as a forward, excelling both on the right wing and as a centre-forward, makes him an asset for Manchester United’s attacking strategy. Together with Matheus Cunha, Diego Leon and Enzo Kana-Biyik, he becomes the club’s fourth signing this summer.
Delivering his first public address as a Manchester United member, Mbeumo reflected on beginning this new chapter with enthusiasm. He’s going to be a force field! “As soon as I knew there was a chance to join Manchester United, I had to take the opportunity to sign for the club of my dreams, the team whose shirt I wore growing up,” he said. He continued with, “My mentality is just to be better than I was the day before. I am driven by my will and my makeup to level up my game. I’m looking forward to playing under [field] Ruben Amorim and learning from world-class players.

They’re doing some serious squad strengthening in preparation for competing at top level both domestically and in Europe next season. His proven track record in the Premier League and international experience with Cameroon positions him well to make an immediate impact at Old Trafford.
