Multiple wildfires are raging through Los Angeles County, threatening the homes and lives of nearly 10 million people. As flames spread rapidly, fueled by the notorious Santa Ana winds, thousands have been forced to evacuate their residences. The situation has led to significant disruptions, including a delay in the 2025 Screen Actors Guild Award nominations, which were changed to a press release format due to the ongoing crisis.
The Pacific Palisades, known as one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in the United States, has been severely impacted. Flames have torn through the area at an alarming rate, advancing at five football fields per minute. Firefighters are tirelessly battling the inferno both from the ground and air; however, they find themselves overwhelmed by the intensity and speed of the flames.
Among those affected are notable Hollywood figures. Longtime residents of Pacific Palisades, Billy Crystal and his wife, Janice, lost their home in the blaze. Crystal expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of a place filled with cherished memories.
"Words cannot describe the enormity of the devastation we are witnessing and experiencing. We ache for our friends and neighbors who have also lost their homes and businesses in this tragedy. Janice and I lived in our home since 1979. We raised our children and grandchildren here. Every inch of our house was filled with love—beautiful memories that can't be taken away," – Billy Crystal.
Paris Hilton also faced devastating losses as her Malibu home was destroyed in the fires. She described her heartbreak while watching her home burn on live television.
"Heartbroken beyond words. Sitting with my family, watching the news and seeing our home in Malibu burn to the ground on live TV is something no one should ever have to experience," – Paris Hilton.
Cameron Mathison shared a video showing the wreckage left behind by the fire, stating that his own house had burned down. He expressed gratitude for those who reached out to check on him.
"Thanks to all who reached out and checked in. Can't respond to all so wanted to give an update here. Sending so many prayers to everyone being affected by these fires," – Cameron Mathison.
Other celebrities have taken to social media to offer support and condolences. Chris Pratt sent "prayers and strength" to those affected, praising the bravery of firefighters and first responders battling the flames.
"Thank you to the brave firefighters and first responders who are working tirelessly to protect lives, homes, and wildlife as they battle fast-moving wildfire fueled by fierce winds. You are true heroes, and we are endlessly grateful for your sacrifice and courage," – Chris Pratt.
He further emphasized unity during this challenging time:
"Let's all come together to support one another during this tough time," – Chris Pratt.
Josh Gad also shared his concern for those in danger, urging everyone to stay safe amid the chaos.

Gad expressed his gratitude for emergency services, acknowledging their relentless efforts to ensure safety amidst the wildfires.

James Woods conveyed his anguish over losing his home as well. He described his experience with disbelief as he witnessed his beloved residence succumb to flames.
"All the smoke detectors are going off in our house and transmitting to our iPhones. I couldn't believe our lovely little home in the hills held on this long. It feels like losing a loved one," – James Woods.
He also reflected on the importance of community during such tragedies.
"There is no possession as priceless as friends and good neighbors during a tragedy. I am humbly grateful," – James Woods.
The ferocity of the wildfires has created a sense of urgency for residents and firefighters alike. The ongoing threat has led authorities to implement mandatory evacuations in several areas, with shelters opened across Los Angeles County to accommodate displaced families.
As emergency crews work around the clock to control the blazes, officials warn that conditions may worsen due to high winds and dry vegetation. The National Weather Service has issued warnings for extreme fire weather conditions across Southern California.
