Local College and University Set to Benefit from Government Funding Boost

A college and new university in Northamptonshire are in line to get millions from the Government. This infusion of capital will improve their campuses and facilities, and help them to broaden their course offerings. Together, they make this investment a demonstration of government priority to provide quality educational resources throughout the region.

smithn4, director of resources and finance at the Office for Students (OfS), said the announcement brings clarity to this year’s funding allocation. That support will make a big difference to a wide array of institutions. This investment is critical to ensuring that all students have modern facilities and up to date equipment to prepare their success in future academic endeavors.

“This year’s funding allocation will help a broad range of universities and colleges to ensure their students can access the facilities and equipment they need to succeed,” said Smith.

The funding will be heavily geared toward supporting the installation of new laboratory spaces. This addition complements the institutions’ missions of fostering environmental stewardship and improving STEM education, outreach, and engagement.

Prof Anne-Marie Kilday, the vice chancellor of the college and the university, said she was “delighted” by the investment. She stated, “The installation of the new laboratory spaces will continue to ensure environmental sustainability and pioneering STEM education are at the forefront of our mission to continue delivering a gold-standard education for our scientific minds of the future.”

That financial support will help them create innovative solutions to climate change. Most importantly, it will provide students with deep experiences of hands-on learning that are so essential to their development and future careers. These new and improved facilities are sure to enhance the student experience for current students, while drawing the attention of prospective students looking to follow a STEM career.
