King Charles has just released an exclusive new luxury item. It’s made from the fleece of his own flock of Aberfield sheep, perfect for winter! It’s no blanket proposition. The Sandringham wool blanket wholesale for £200 each. It illustrates the monarch’s commitment to sustainable agricultural practice and organics, on the expansive, 21,000-acre Sandringham Estate.
These blankets are made from 100 per cent Sandringham wool. We supply the wool from Aberfield lambs, which are a cross between Aberfield ewes and Aberfield rams. This new initiative not only showcases the intrinsic quality of the wool, but promotes the estate’s commitment to the principles of organic farming. The estate welcomes about 3,000 sheep that help protect the ecosystem through grazing and fertilizing the ground, keeping it healthy.
Sustainable Farming Practices
His majesty King Charles III inherited the Sandringham Estate in 2017, and since has put a number of agricultural practices and improvements into place. One of them is the adoption of agroforestry, an approach that incorporates trees and shrubs into crop and livestock operations. This forward-looking collaboration helps foster biodiversity, bridges the gap between nature and infrastructure projects and reintroduces ecological balance.
The Aberfield sheep breed is notably hardy, making it well-suited for sustainable grazing. The estate is committed to organic practices. Consequently, the wool is luxurious, chemical-free, and made without the use of synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. Plus, the organic, grass-fed meat from the estate’s sheep is served at the estate’s own restaurant and café.
Revitalizing Sandringham Gardens
Alongside his agricultural endeavors, King Charles has similarly taken an interest in restoring the gardens at Sandringham. After being left in ruin for half a century, the gardens are home to a restored Hedge Maze and new Topiary Garden. The latter was a subject of one of his very first childhood recollections, a testimony to the monarch’s great spirit in-land to the estate.
These revitalized gardens are simply stunning and draw the eye. Perhaps more importantly, they play a crucial role in the estate’s larger sustainability efforts. The inclusion of mixed plant life aids both the Aberfield sheep grazing practices and the local environment.
A Connection to Heritage
The release of the iconic Sandringham wool blanket marks a coming together of culture and contemporary sustainability initiatives. Each blanket weaves together this vibrant history while furthering sustainable practices that sustain both the earth and those who call it home.
