Kim Coles Advocates for Living Single Reboot with Nostalgic Charm

Kim Coles, best known for her role as Synclaire on the beloved Fox sitcom “Living Single,” is ready and willing to revive the classic show. She made her passion for its restoration known. Coles, along with her former co-stars Queen Latifah, Kim Fields, and Erika Alexander, reminisced about their time on the series which aired from 1993 to 1998. The show, created by David Crane and Marta Kauffman, captured the lives of twentysomething roommates navigating friendships and relationships in Brooklyn.

Living Single produced many stars through its ensemble cast including Emmy nominated T.C. Carson and John Henton, and exemplified what a successful home of a close knit group of friends could accomplish in tuning into the struggles and triumphs of life. For five seasons, its incandescent joy won over the hearts of audiences and critics alike. Almost thirty years after its initial airing, it continues to entertain millions of viewers in syndication.

Coles thinks the underlying themes explored in the show are just as relevant today. She stated, “I’m gonna say yes, because I think we all still look good, and that’s my very shallow reasoning.” This playful jab is a testament to her love for the series and faith in the cast’s ability to stand the test of time.

More recently, both Kim Coles and Erika Alexander have entertained ideas of working together again on some kind of follow-up to “Living Single.” Their passion for bringing the series back to life has ignited the imagination of devoted fans. Queen Latifah popped up on a video call as Alexander guest-starred on “The Drew Barrymore Show” back in February. This sparked even more speculation that a reboot was in the works.

In 2019, Queen Latifah hinted at the possibility of a revival, stating, “It’s not there yet, but hopefully we can get it happening.” Her comments have sparked a welcome wave of excitement among old school fans who love the comforting, familiar vibe of “Living Single.”

In honor of the show’s incredible legacy, cast members Kim Coles and Erika Alexander are returning as the hosts of a new rewatch podcast called Reliving Single. Anyone who remembers the joy of watching these episodes for the first time will love this platform where they can engage with the cast’s behind-the-scenes stories and experiences.
