Kenny Chesney Makes History as First Country Artist to Headline Las Vegas Sphere

Though his impact is in country music history. Recently he became the first country artist to headline the newly opened Las Vegas Sphere. The final round of this landmark residency launched Friday night. Scheduled to operate through mid-June, the stunning 17,600-capacity venue will offer fans a one-of-a-kind immersive experience. The Las Vegas Sphere features a groundbreaking wraparound LED display. With its enchanting 4-D effects, the concert experience is brought to a new level.

Thursday’s opening night launched with Chesney debuting a new song called “Beer in Mexico.” Fanciful projections featuring colorful sugar skulls and dancing beer bottles brought dance-music video vibes to the scene. The performance captivated the audience, showcasing a mix of fan favorites alongside songs that had never been performed live before, including “One Lonely Island” and “Seven Days.”

Immediately after the show, Chesney took to Instagram. Steven released a full carousel of photos that did a wonderful job of showing off the production and enhancing the raw emotion of opening night. He thanked the whole Sphere team for their contributions to ensuring it was a uniquely awesome experience.

“Nothing can prepare you for your first night at Sphere in Vegas,” – Kenny Chesney

Chesney’s opening night was off the charts – partially thanks to a surprise appearance by Kelsea Ballerini. Coming from Knoxville, TN, she added a special pizzazz to the event! The alliance had introduced a surprise appearance of that character to the concert that thrilled attendees.

“Thanks to the whole Sphere team and a very special thanks to my friend from Knoxville, TN @KelseaBallerini for such a great surprise on our first night,” – Kenny Chesney

Whether you’re a lifelong or recent fan, the residency promises to provide an eclectic enough setlist to keep all kinds of fans happy. Chesney’s performances will continue to feature well-loved tracks such as “She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy” and “You & Tequila,” ensuring that attendees enjoy both nostalgia and new experiences.

With the residency underway, only a handful of tickets are left for original fans and new audiences looking to experience this once-in-a-generation event. Kenny Chesney’s opening show at the Las Vegas Sphere is a watershed moment for country music — in more ways than one. It combines innovative technology with emotionally devastating storytelling all told through music.
