Katie Lowes Opens Up About Love, Jealousy, and Career on “Fake Doctors, Real Friends”

Katie Lowes, renowned for her role on the hit TV series "Scandal," recently shared insights about her personal and professional life during an appearance on the popular comedy podcast "Fake Doctors, Real Friends With Zach and Donald." On the show, she delved into the complexities of her character's intimate scenes and how they intersect with her real-life marriage to Adam Shapiro.

Throughout her time on "Scandal," Lowes depicted a character who engaged in numerous intimate scenes with various love interests. Among these was Guillermo Diaz, an openly gay actor, with whom she shared what she described as "dirty, dirty sex scenes." Additionally, her character had a romantic relationship with George Newbern, a much older actor who is not only a co-star but also a dear friend of both Lowes and her husband.

Lowes acknowledged that while her husband may have felt jealousy regarding her on-screen romances, it was likely mitigated by the nature of her character's relationships. She noted, “You know, we get asked that a lot,” when discussing the dynamics of their relationship in light of her sexual scenes. She added that although Shapiro has experienced feelings of jealousy, he understands the demands of being married to someone in the entertainment industry.

“He doesn’t really get that kind of part, but he actually has gotten jealous,” Lowes said. However, she emphasized that Shapiro was not threatened by her on-screen relationships, partly because of their strong bond and mutual respect. She explained that when he married her, he accepted that her career would involve intimate scenes and storylines.

In addition to discussing her time on "Scandal," Lowes highlighted her recent endeavors, including how she prepares for roles within a tight 18-day timeframe. She also talked about her side hustle, Schappy Pretzel, which gained traction during the pandemic. This venture reflects her entrepreneurial spirit and ability to adapt in challenging times.

Lowes expressed gratitude for the opportunities she has received in her acting career. She feels fortunate to have worked alongside talented individuals like Newbern and Diaz while navigating the ups and downs of fame and personal relationships.
