Jessica Biel’s bizarre educational practices as an adolescent have surfaced once more. Her old 7th Heaven costars, Mackenzie Rosman, Beverley Mitchell, and David Gallagher reminisced on some pretty great experiences with her! In a recent episode of the “Catching Up With the Camdens” podcast, Rosman told a story that was even odder. She remembered seeing Biel prepare for a role with a live chicken draped over her shoulder. The strange scenario elicited laughs and disbelief as Biel finally dug deep for a shred of memory on the surprisingly nostalgia-inducing production.
Her heartthrob status came after starring in the hit TV series 7th Heaven, which debuted in 1996, instantly launching Biel as she played Mary Camden. To make her audition stand out, she threw in the move of spinning an invisible basketball on her finger. Be shocked, but she wasn’t carrying a regulation-sized basketball with her that day! This strange little story points to Biel’s fun, irreverent, and silly early career. More importantly, it sets up plenty of equally entertaining stories from her co-stars to follow.
From the very beginning of the podcast episode turning up Rosman, she interrogated Biel on her prep methods. Mitchell joined the fun, trying to jog Biel’s memory of her famous homework chicken friend. So even after they assured them and went so far as to offer photographic proof, Biel was still unconvinced.

The images showed the feathery friend perched jauntily on Biel’s shoulder as she serenely went about cramming for her exam. The whole scene, that Mitchell at one point called “absolutely hilarious,” left the New York native almost in stitches while remembering the experience. While fans wait with full hearts as they look back on all the good times spent with 7th Heaven, Biel shows no signs of slowing down herself. She will be seen in the Prime Video redemption thriller series The Better Sister. She is currently filming the drama The Silent Five with Elizabeth Banks and Matthew Modine. With a world premiere on May 29, the six-part show would give audiences another chance to see Biel’s generous and focused talent play out on-screen.
