Jennifer Coolidge Reflects on the Transformative Impact of The White Lotus

Jennifer Coolidge, best known for her Emmy-winning performance in The White Lotus, recently opened up about the series’ effects on her life. It’s changed the trajectory of her career and her personal life for good. Airing Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and streaming on Max, The White Lotus has been more than just a career boost for Coolidge. She refers to it as her own “career renaissance.” It has reenergized her career trajectory. While controversial, it’s had the effect of generating intense curiosity around her dating life.

Though Coolidge is probably best known today for her iconic turn as Stifler’s Mom in American Pie. She’s the first to admit that The White Lotus has changed her career in a huge way. For her, this role has been the most welcoming and supportive environment. Audiences were emotionally shattered by the demise of her character Tanya. Tanya’s arc during Season 2 kept audiences on the edge of their seats as she jaunted off to Italy and Hawaii. Attendees expressed an immense heartbreak at having watched her descend from greatness.

"This is far better than American Pie because people were really sad about Tanya falling off a boat. These men like you better because they feel that you went through something." – Jennifer Coolidge

The series has done more than just boost her career. It’s surprisingly improved her love life. Coolidge jokingly addresses the fact that she recently portrayed a “real fucking weirdo” on The White Lotus. Suddenly, though, she finds herself the one catching the eyes of “hot dudes.”

"Even though I play a complete weirdo in White Lotus, cute guys come up to me," – Jennifer Coolidge

Relax everyone, Season 3 of The White Lotus doesn’t have Coolidge as a central character. As behind-the-scenes work continues, she remains deeply involved and in tune with the show’s creative developments. What’s most nagging her though, is the fate of her character's husband, Greg, played by Jon Gries. Coolidge is still hoping for God’s justice to be done for Greg, which means that his storyline may not be finished just yet.

"He says I'm definitely dead so I'm going along with it." – Jennifer Coolidge

As we discover in this episode, Coolidge loves The White Lotus’ stories—deep, complicated, riveting, magical stories. The series has deeply impacted her life. Her reflections show a true love for this amazing city and the opportunities that it has provided her professionally and personally.
