Jenna Ortega Previews Exciting Season 2 of Wednesday

Jenna Ortega is brilliant as the iconic Wednesday Addams in Netflix’s Wednesday series. Recently, she opened up about Season 2, which fans have been eagerly awaiting and which will premiere its first half on August 6. Afterward, audiences can get excited for Part 2, which is scheduled to release on September 3. This new season promises to explore deeper into Wednesday’s life at Nevermore Academy, where she will navigate transformative experiences with her peers.

Joining Ortega in Season 2 will be Catherine Zeta-Jones, returning as Morticia Addams, Wednesday’s mother. Joining the cast this time around are all-stars Donnovan, Steve Buscemi as Principal Barry Dort. Christopher Lloyd, for one, best known for his portrayal of Uncle Fester in the 1991 “Addams Family” film. Fantozzi will play the longest-serving professor at Nevermore Academy, which should add an additional hit of ’90s nostalgia to the series.

Ortega said she can’t wait for audiences to see the new season, specifically mentioning a favorite scene—a sword fight with a couple. “That was one of my favorite things to come out of the show,” she stated. This new dynamic is a window into Wednesday’s development as a character—someone who has never been a teen before.

As the season goes on, Ortega wants to tackle those feelings of being misunderstood, designing that journey for the show’s impressionable younger viewers. She expressed that everyone can connect with the feeling of being an outsider. “I think everybody feels a bit weird because we spend so much time in our heads,” she explained. “It’s easy to single yourself out or to feel misunderstood.”

The first season of “Wednesday” garnered significant acclaim, inspiring the creators to ensure that Season 2 would deliver an equally compelling narrative. Ortega noted the positive response from audiences globally, stating, “It’s just been so beautiful to see the show resonate with so many people internationally, in a way none of us had anticipated—we’re very, very lucky.”

Working alongside veteran actors has made a lasting impact on Ortega. She gushed about working opposite both Steve Buscemi and Ken Lloyd, and why wouldn’t she? On Buscemi, she continued, “Incredible privilege to work with him twice now. He’s just a talented, normal, unassuming cool guy… almost suave in a way. He’s such a pleasure.” Regarding Lloyd, she remarked, “Christopher Lloyd I’m still quite shocked by…his history in film in general, but then his relation to the Addams Family.”
