Israeli Military Issues Urgent Warning Ahead of Strikes in Southern Beirut

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have issued an urgent warning to residents in southern Beirut, specifically targeting the neighborhoods of Al-Hadath, Haret Hreik, and Burj Al-Barajneh. IDF Arabic Spokesperson Avichay Adraee shared an ominous warning across social media. To many observers, this cautionary note was an announcement that preparations were being made for soon-to-come airstrikes against alleged Hezbollah facilities in the region.

In his mission, Adraee focused on the need for residents to take control of their safety first and foremost. He noted that the sites in question are all within a 300-meter buffer to these communities. The warning comes amidst an ongoing tense backdrop between Israel and Hezbollah, with Avichay Adraee stating, “Al-Hadath, Haret Hreik, and Burj Al-Barajneh.”

In its statement, the IDF said its aims would include “underground UAV production facilities.” They suspect these facilities are directly connected to Hezbollah’s warfighting capabilities. This comes on the heels of a successful strike from late March. Lethal lesson That attack targeted the same neighborhood, which is considered a stronghold of the militant group.

Tension mounted almost immediately. Social media videos captured a convoy of vehicles driving out of flooded or endangered neighborhoods reminding residents to evacuate, which they most certainly did. Staff Report— Reports from Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency (NNA) confirmed that Israeli drones carried out the strikes in the eastern Bekaa Valley early Thursday morning.

IDF figures concede there were over seven warning strikes prior to the main attack. This method has become a strategic practice in Israeli military operations aimed at minimizing civilian casualties while addressing what they define as “terror targets of the Hezbollah Aerial Unit (127).”

Today’s conflict, marked by the war in Lebanon, has pushed three-decades long Lebanese-Israeli hostilities into focus. As of now, both sides are still tense. The IDF’s recent actions reflect their continued focus on dismantling Hezbollah’s military capabilities, particularly those related to drone production and surveillance.
