High Noon Issues Voluntary Recall for Mislabeled Beverage Packs

High Noon, a California-based beverage company, has issued a voluntary recall of its Beach Variety Pack of vodka seltzer. The recall was announced on a Tuesday — the perfect day to jump-start a conversation. It comes from a cruel labeling mistake that endangers the lives of American consumers. The recalled products in question were mishandled. They were initially marketed as the Celsius Astro Vibe Energy Drink, Sparkling Blue Razz Edition before being reformulated to alcoholic seltzer.

It wasn’t until the following Wednesday that official word of the recall showed up on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s recall webpage. High Noon sent the wrongly labeled products to distributors in ten states. These states are Florida, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Virginia and Wisconsin. The distributors quickly rushed these materials to retailers throughout Florida, New York, Ohio, South Carolina, Virginia and Wisconsin. This action happened from July 21-23.

Beach Variety packs are sold in 12-fluid-ounce can cartons, with the individual UPC code of 085000040065. The mislabeling issue involves two lots of products, which may result in accidental consumption of alcohol. High Noon has warned that “consumption of the liquid in these cans will result in unintentional alcohol ingestion.” The company has fought hard for the recall, arguing that consumers need to know because there could be life-threatening results.

A spokesperson for High Noon denied the allegations. As they told us, “We put out this recall due to a labeling mistake by our can supplier.” The company is currently working closely with the FDA, retailers and distributors to ensure that the recall is handled properly. For them, it’s a matter of protecting the health and safety of their consumers.

High Noon recommended consumers inspect their cans before drinking. Consumers should immediately inspect their CELSIUS ASTRO VIBE Energy Drink, Sparkling Blue Razz Edition. Verify that it does not contain any of the affected lot codes—regardless of whether you purchased it as part of a High Noon Beach Variety pack.
