HELLO! magazine has revealed exclusive insights into Meghan Markle’s breathtaking makeup during Paris Fashion Week, thanks to the expertise of renowned makeup artist Daniel Martin. Royal editor Emily Nash confesses that the magazine’s dive into Meghan Markle’s couture proclivities goes deep into the artistry behind her looks, making sure to touch on all the hot techniques that take her style to the next level.
During an exclusive interview, Martin discussed his collaboration with Markle and highlighted the makeup products he used to create her Parisian look. In his presentation, he underscored the importance of skin preparation, particularly in that it’s key to making an impression. For Laura’s glowy complexion, Sir John used Tatcha products and sculpted her cheekbones with Tom Ford contouring cream. On top of that, he used a Paris-Berlin press powder to help set the look and increase the wear time.
To be fair, fashion week is always about the clothes, but I felt like there was really little makeup inspiration compared to the states,” added Martin. Beauty culture here in the states is so different in that there’s such a show with having a full face, whereas this season in Paris, it would be just like a lipstick and skincare, or there was nothing on the eyes, or there was a lot on the eyes, but there’s nothing on the lip.
Along with her exciting display at Paris Fashion Week, HELLO! has an exclusive story diving into Martin’s journey throughout the event. And he was honest about his times when he felt overwhelmed by all the creative wizardry that was just pulsating all around him. “And I shut down, to be honest. I was just so inundated,” he said.
Aside from his collaborations with Markle, Martin has worked with Companion Candles, a brand started by Loren. Their collective mission extends to producing candles that match their commitment to animal welfare and eco-friendly fragrances. When it came time for Loren to tell her story and launch her brand, Loren approached Martin, which formed a powerful relationship.
Looking back on his time with Markle, Martin said he was dedicated to empowering people to own their beauty process. It’s just really something that you [need] to be able to accomplish yourself. You don’t have to hire a makeup artist to achieve that. The more time you devote to your own company, the more it becomes a way of looking at skincare as a meditative practice,” he shared. Instead of being under obligation, you’re able to develop your own distinctive practice through taking ownership.
You can see more of Martin’s work with Markle on his Instagram account, which offers more insight into his beauty-forward approach. He shared a post highlighting his innovative technique of mixing Tatcha Longevity Serum with foundation for an added layer of radiance. I added my own twist by combining the Tatcha Longevity Serum into the foundation. This duo really took her base makeup to the next level with that extra layer of illumination, making her look even more juicy and glow-y! To strengthen this process,” he explained.
