The Guernsey Institute is increasing capacity to help students who are making important choices after their GCSEs with focused advice sessions. Further, these sessions are two full days. Their goal is to inform and educate young adults to make this important transition period a safe one.
Oli Davies, director of young people at The Guernsey Institute, has spoken about how vital this move is. He notes that the post-GCSE phase represents a “significant life moment” for many students, as they contemplate their futures and consider various pathways.
The venue for the advice sessions will be open from 10:00 to 16:00 BST on both days. Finally, the student support team should ensure they’re approachable by being there to assist students whenever possible. Don’t hesitate to come by with any questions or for more detailed advice!
Davies gives students peace of mind, reminding them that there are no wrong choices to make as they discover their future paths.
“There’s always options, that’s the most important thing to remember.” – Oli Davies
He further elaborates on the role of the student support team, stating, “I’ve never known a student in the 11 years that I’ve worked at the college who goes ‘well I can’t do anything here’ – there’s always a solution and there’s always a plan.” The Guernsey Institute remains committed to guiding each student through this important transition. We work hard to ensure that no student is ever left behind, or left out in the cold.
The availability of these training sessions is indicative of the great lengths the institute goes to in order to help their students succeed educationally and personally. By offering accessible support, The Guernsey Institute aims to empower young people as they embark on their next educational or career endeavors.
